pdfToolbarPages not updating - pdfToolbarPages continues to show the # of Pages after the doc is closed

I use pdfToolbarPages toolbar in our solution. It shows the number of pages and the current page number fine. But when I close the PDF document, the toolbar continues to show the number of pages and current page number despite the fact that the pdf document was successfully closed.

What method should I call on pdfToolbarPages to refresh or re-initialize it?
